Charles McGregor “Butch” Beaty, Sr., age 92, died July 6, 2015. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 2:00 P.M. at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. James Simpson officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon GA 31210 or the Methodist Children’s Home, 304 Pierce Ave., Macon GA 31204.
He was born in Macon on February 2, 1923, to Agnes and Clyde Beaty, and was a life long resident. He was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Beaty Rousseau.
Butch attended Lanier High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was stationed in India and Tinian Island. He worked at Taylor Iron Works for 38 years and retired from Tribble and Richardson Consulting Engineers.
Butch was an active member of Cherokee Heights United Methodist Church and Forest Hills United Methodist Church. He loved music and was a member of the church choirs for over 70 years. He was also a longtime member of the Macon Exchange Club and was their oldest living member.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frankie Jean Dozier Beaty; his son, Charles M. Beaty, Jr. and his wife Sandra; his daughter Susan and her husband Rod Hardee; grandchildren Leah Beaty Parrott (Matt), Sarah Hardee Belknap (Doug), Spencer Hardee (Nina), and three great grandchildren, Ellie Parrott, Henry and Lachlan Belknap.
