Carolyn Kelsey Byas, a loving mother, devoted wife, and retired school teacher passed away peacefully on July 13th 2024 at the age of 87 in Knoxville Tennessee. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 19th 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in Bold as a Lion Church, 2590 Napier Ave. Macon GA. 31204. Entombment will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Doctors Carlton and Denise Walker will officiate. The family have a time of visitation before the service at 9:00 A.M. until the service time.
Carolyn was born in Eastman Georgia and was the widow of the late Dr. William Herbert Byas. She was the daughter of the late Frank Kelsey and Elizabeth Kelsey Speight.
Mrs. Byas taught 3rd grade in Saginaw Michigan for 20 years and was a faithful member of Bold as a Lion Church in Macon before moving to Knoxville Tennessee to be closer to Family. Carolyn’s love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ resonated throughout her children’s lives, and the countless lives she has touched along the way. Her faith was as “Bold as a Lion”, and her fervent prayers were a blessing to everyone. Carolyn loved this church!
She is survived by her children Yolanda Byas-Robinson, William Byas Jr., Albert Byas, Ulysses (Man) Byas; her siblings Frank (Skipper) Kelsey, Cecelia Kelsey, Terry Kelsey, Joyce Speight, Mildred Speight, Junior Speight, Author Speight, Ralph Speight, Alvin Speight, a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of brothers, sisters, and in-laws.
