“Buddy” Jerry J. Norris, 79, joined the Heavenly Chorus on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. He passed away at a local nursing facility. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. John Whitehead, the Rev. Cori Maurer and Chaplain Ann Meroney will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Norris, son of the late Charles and Leila Teague Norris, was a lifelong resident of Macon. He served with the U. S. Navy and was retired from Robins Air Force Base. Buddy loved gospel music and was well known while singing with the Lamar Sego Family, the Cavaliers, the Peacemakers and Southernaires . He was a member of the Moose Club. He attended United Community Church and was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Monica Denise Bowden and brother, Charlie Norris. Buddy was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
Buddy will be missed by those he loved most, his wife of thirteen years, Margaret Ann Norris of Macon; his son, Jerry (Debbie) Norris of Macon; his daughter, Marilyn “Missy” Bowden of Byron; his beloved grandchildren, Morgan Elaine Bowden, Michael Norris and Amanda (Kevin) Leslie; his great grandchildren, Jacob Leslie and Anna Leslie, stepchildren, Jeff (Beth) Passmore and Fred (Patty) Passmore and step grandchildren, Samantha and Keira Passmore, Melissa (Joel) Taylor and step great grandchildren, Nathan and Brianna.
