Dr. Brenda Kelley Davis, 78, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024. The family will greet friends from 1:00pm - 2:00pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Snow's Memorial Chapel at Bass Road in Macon. A celebration of her life will follow at 2:00pm, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Loran Smith officiating.
Brenda was born August 31, 1946, in Marietta, Georgia to the late Curtis Clyde Kelley and Wilma Yates Kelley. She was a graduate of Osborne High School in Marietta, then earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at West Georgia College, later she attended the University of Georgia, where she earned her doctorate degree in Business Education. She was a retired Vocational Supervisor for the Bibb County School System and served as a former member of the Board of Directors for MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union.
Brenda was an accomplished author having written and published three books under the pen name Maxine Davis. She was also a member of the Georgia Romance Writers' (GRW), where she enjoyed meeting and collaborating with other romance writers. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, especially his hymns and old time gospel songs, having once visited Graceland. She will also be remembered for her wonderful cooking, sewing and crocheting skills. Brenda attended Park Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law: Terry Davis and Mike Davis.
Brenda is survived by her husband: Lanny Davis; sister: Janice Portier; brother: Dr. Terry Kelley (his wife: April); sister-in-law: Barbara Davis Smith and by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
