MACON – Bob Joe Terrell, 80, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Pine Pointe Hospice Facility. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2011 at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Bob Moon and Dr. John Horton will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. They suggest that memorial contributions be made to Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church, 500 Bass Road, Macon 31210 or Macon Outreach Pantry, c/o Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 719 Mulberry Street, Macon 31201 or the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon 31201.
Mr. Terrell, son of the late Cader W. and Ethel Cothren Terrell, was born in Amarillo, TX and had served with the National Guard. He was a retired Sales Manager with Inland Container and was a member of Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church where he was also a member of the Nan Freeman Sunday School Class. He was involved with “In His Hands Prayer Group”, Emmaus Community and served with senior activities at Martha Bowman and was Past President of the United Methodist Men’s for several years. Mr. Terrell was a former member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church and was “Mr. Sunday School” for many years and he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tattnall Square Academy and for more than twenty-five years, he and Walter Watson filmed their football games. He loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his first wife of almost forty nine years, Marian Terrell and his son, Mike Terrell and by a brother and a sister.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is survived by his family whom he adored, his wife, Betty C. Terrell of Macon; his daughters, Lynne (Ralph) Moss of Tyler, TX, Janet (Steve) Judkins of Nederland, TX and Julie T. (Glenn) Barnette of Alpharetta, GA; his stepchildren, Susan W. (Jule) Blair of Monroe, Donna W. (Michael) Phillips and James Lee (Leslie) Waters, all of Macon; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and five step grandchildren.
