Sharon Kay Crane, age 67, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. She was born January 20, 1956 to Vada (Tripp) and Charlie Merryman in Wyatt, Missouri. Sharon married the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, James Crane on August 2, 1975 and they spent many happy years together before he passed in 2010
Sharon’s favorite phrase was “I love it”, some things she said that about were shopping, talking with friends, cooking, and giving. She was so selfless she kept money in her car just in case someone needed it, she would buy sandwiches for those in need. She was known to never miss a party and never miss a picture taking opportunity. Sharon also loved traveling, especially to anywhere there was a beach where she could wear her flip flops. Her other favorite travel spots were places to eat with James and Fred and riding James’ motorcycle around. Sharon’s biggest love was her family, if any of her nieces or nephews had a function she would be there.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Nicholas Crane and Kyle (Rebecca) Crane; sisters-in-law, Sue (Jim) Darr and Linda O’Daniel; brother-in-law Bruce Crane; special friends, Vicki Hanson and “Fred” Duane Ulrich; and her very special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vada and Charlie Merryman; husband, James Crane; and siblings, Charles Merryman and Donald Merryman.
A memorial visitation for Sharon will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A continued visitation will occur Friday, January 19, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A memorial service will occur Friday, January 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115.
Sharon will be laid to rest in Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115-2277; Chapel of Love.
