Mary Annalee Casto, a loving mother, grand and great grandmother, wife and sister, passed away Sunday November 29th at the age of 95. Mary was born July 4th 1925 in Myrtle, MO to Arthur and Vicie Newman. She married Harold L Casto in Poplar Bluff, MO on May 22 1945. She and her husband moved to Rockford, IL where they lived out the rest of their days. They opened Apostolic Mission Church in Rockford IL where they ministered, as well as traveling throughout the Midwest preaching gospel and ministering to people in need. They raised 3 children; Mary Ann, Louis, and Paula, and 3 grandchildren. Mary was a beautiful woman inside and out who is remembered by all who knew her for having one of the gentlest, kindest hearts you could imagine. She loved children, helping with Sunday School at church, she was beloved by her grand children and great grandchildren and had many people who called her Grandma affectionately, even though they weren’t related at all. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, siblings Virginia, Ruth, Opal, Arthur and Ray and daughter Mary Ann. She is survived by her children Louis and Paula, grandchildren Christi, Brittany, and Alyssa, great grandchildren Ian, Ineta, Matthew and Elijah, siblings Ira (Pat) Newman and Wilma (Jerry) Rushing.
There will be a walk through visitation from 1 to 2pm on Monday, December 7 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park. Masks and social distancing are required.
There will be a private family service to follow with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
