Lanny Lee Quick, 78, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, September 11, 2021 at Javon Bea Hospital. He was born October 5, 1942 in DeWitt, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Bernice (Calhoon) Quick. Lanny was a tree trimmer for many years for Asplundh Tree Expert Company. He had a love of cars; whether it was fixing, restoring or collecting them. He could never have too many. Lanny adored racing midget cars while he lived in Iowa. He achieved the “Rookie of the Year” in 1974. Lanny enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and boating with his best friend of 60 years, Marlow Larson.
Lanny is missed by his daughters, Tonja (Bruce Roe) Schuldt and Stacey (Jason) Burger; grandchildren, Nicole, Cassie, Cody, Skyleigh and Sage; great-grandchildren, Avory, Malachi, Olivia and Owen; mother of his daughters, Donna Gray, who he remained friends with until he passed; siblings, Rodger Quick, Judy Mays, Diana Lyman, Tommy Quick, Carolyn Bakalar, Joan Becker, Michael Quick, Russell Quick, Mark Quick, Barbara French and Vickie Courington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Betty and brothers, Harvey Quick, Jimmy Quick, Larry Quick and an infant brother.

A visitation to celebrate Lanny’s life will be held from 12:30-3:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
