David L. Hayden

David L. Hayden, 81, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully at home, Friday morning, April 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 28, 1941 in Viroqua, WI, the son of LeRoy and Doris (Waters) Hayden. David joined the United States Army following graduation. David married Lenna Bond on June 21, 1969 in Oregon, IL. He worked at National Lock for 17 years and Plastic Crafters for 10 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and fishing in his younger years. David enjoyed a cold beer. He was known in the neighborhood as “The Waver.”

David is loved and missed by his wife, Lenna; children, Lester Hayden, Robert (Connie) Hayden, Billee Jo Schmidt and Lily (Clark Bowen) Hayden; grandchildren, Robert (Elizabeth) Hayden, Jr., Jenny Schmidt, Amanda (Justin) Good and Anitta (Drew) Milloro; great-grandchildren, Davin, Alexie, and Kiera Hayden, Tanner Good; sisters, Barbara Hall and Sandy Gilman; special niece, Tina Gilman; niece, Tammy (Tim) Maybanks; nephew, Scott (Cheryl) Hall; great-niece, Christine Pedretti; great-nephew, Hayden Pedretti; as well as numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
