Allen “Bud” W. Lane, 70, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away after a short battle with cancer on September 13, 2022. He was born on October 11, 1951 in Rockford, IL to Charles and Marie (Case) Lane. Bud graduated Harlem High School in 1969 and went on to proudly serve his country for two years in the US Army. He married the love of his life, Janice Bartels, on March 5, 1977 and together they raised three wonderful boys. Bud worked for Schlichting & Sons Excavating for 28 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union. After retiring he worked part-time for the Village of Roscoe. Bud looked forward to meeting up with his Army group, 1st BN, 39th INF REG, 8th INF DIV, Paddy’s Gang, every couple of years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. Bud was outgoing, hardworking, an excellent provider, funny, and had an infectious laugh. He loved his family and was a great husband, dad, and papa. Bud will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janice; his sons, Brent Lane, Adam Lane, and Cory (Jessica) Lane; his grandchildren, Bryce, Rena, Amaya, Frankie, Elise, Sofie, Weston, and Stella; his step-grandchildren, Jaime and Anthony; his mother, Marie Lane; his sister, Anna Byrd; his sister-in-law, Linda Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lane; his brother, Chuck Lane; and his brother-in-law, Jim Byrd.
Celebration of Life for Bud will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. 2nd St, Machesney Park, IL 61115. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Bud’s name to a charity of your choice. Cremation rites have been accorded.
