Rosemary Burns

Rosemary Burns, 94, of Gun Barrel City, Texas passed Friday, March 24, 2023 at her home. She was born, October 20, 1928 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late John Joseph Sullivan and late Estelle Simmons Sullivan.

Rosemary married her late husband of 72 years and the love of her life Robert Lee Burns a local banker and after a few years of marriage moved to Dallas when Robert was transferred to Texas. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, taking care of her family’s every need. In her spare time she was a member of the East Dallas Exchangettes, Cedar Creek Women’s Club and hostess to many social and family affairs. She and Robert were avid travelers and saw many beautiful lands together. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mabank. She Enjoyed playing bridge, puzzles, watching old movies, bird watching, and she loved to read.

Rosemary is survived by her children; Larry Burns, Kelly Hamilton and her husband Michael, Kimberly Cundiff and her husband Billy, grandchildren; Robin Burns, Darian Hamilton, Tara Hamilton, McKayla Larson and her husband Dakota, Kelly Marie Malone and her husband Jacob, Katie Yarbrough and her husband Justin, Kristin Swann and her husband Andrew , DJ Swann, great grandchildren; Brynlee Larson, Micah Malone, Noah Malone, Ezekiel Malone, Judah Malone, Haven Yarbrough, Zeth Swann, Zara Swann and sister; Joanna Koontz, niece Deb Steinberg, niece Judy Robinson as well as several other beloved great nieces and nephews, a continuing line of loved family members and many friends.

In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her grandson; Eric Burns, sister; Dorothy Robinson and her brother; John Sullivan, Nephew Bill Koontz, Nephew Bruce Robinson, Brother in Law Willy Koontz and Eldon Robinson.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Eubanks Cedar Creek Funeral Home, 601 South 3rd Street, Mabank, Texas. A Celebration of Life will also be held at Eubanks Cedar Creek Funeral Home on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM followed by a family committal at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
