Ronald Hathaway

Ronald Joe Hathaway of Gun Barrel City, Texas passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 and went to be with the Lord at the age of 70 years old. He was born in Manistee, Michigan on July 3, 1950 to Melvin & Mary Hathaway. Ronnie grew up in Arlington, Texas and went to Arlington High School. He and Linda celebrated 43 years of marriage this past New Year's Day. He retired from Lockheed Martin after 37 years as a Machine Tool Repairman and serving many years as a Committeeman. After retirement, he and Linda moved to Gun Barrel City to live out their retirement dream of living by the lake. He loved living life and squeezed every bit out of it that he could. He was an excellent bowler and softball player. He never let much slow him down. Even after a kidney transplant and 2 hip replacements, he continued to snow ski and golf for many more years. Ron loved music! He played in several rock bands as the lead bass guitarist and sang harmony in his younger years. Up until a few years ago, he still loved bending some guitar strings. He loved fishing anywhere he could get a hook in the water.

Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mary Hathaway, his brother, Greg Hathaway, and son Scott Nance. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda, and children, Amy Ivy (Tim), Krisha Bowen (Jeff), Ryan Hathaway (Cherri), and youngest son Eric Hathaway. Beloved Grumpy to his 9 grandkids: Sage, Tyler, Cody, Jayden, Caylen, Kyler, Riley, Tori, Jacob and 7 great grandchildren. He leaves behind so many family and friends that meant the world to him. More than anything Ronnie worked hard to take care of his family his entire life. Until his very last day, he was more concerned with his family than himself. The family will hold a celebration of life tentatively in July.
