She was born November 26,1953. Her birthday was special because it was also her precious daddy’s birthday. Years later, that whole week would be celebrated with the ones lucky enough to be born a couple of days before, right on, or a few days after that famous November 26th.
She raised her daughters in DeSoto, while working for AAFES and later Metroplex Securities. When the latter was bought out 30 years ago, she decided to use her severance to move to Cedar Creek Lake and open kiddie kampus with her daughter, Carei. Shortly afterwards, Kim Jones joined and completed the team. Nelda was an inspiration to everyone that walked through those doors. Being a single mother herself, she had a soft spot for them. She always wanted you to excel and always had advice to pass on. Manners were also very important to her and she sure did love feeding all of those babies over the years. Breakfast was her favorite. Those were some of the most stressful but best times of her life.
During that time, she also found her home church across the street at First Baptist Church Eustace, as well as many friends. She was on committees and taught the “Young” Ladies Sunday School Class for many, many years. She opened a second kiddie kampus too location, got married to Glenn Majors and built a couple of houses together.
In 2018, her and Glenn built their forever home in Athens and settled in with their furbabies. She enjoyed gardening, dabbling in the stock market, shopping with Rosa, organizing girls trips with itineraries and hosting her family at her home. The thing she absolutely loved the most was spending time with her girls and her furbabies. Nelda was also passionate about supporting the Humane Society, giving generously of her time and resources to help animals in need.
She was the absolute best sister, mother, mother-in-law, GAMMY, great gammy and friend.
Nelda passed peacefully December 6, 2024 in her home in Athens after a brief courageous battle with cancer.
Nelda is preceded in death by her parents Finis and Helen Wright; and husband Glenn Majors.
She is survived by her brother, Gary Wright of Eustace; “sister”, Rosa Graham of Gilmer; Children, Carei and Bobby Bobbitt II of Eustace, Magen and Brian Autwell of Northlake, Christine Majors of Athens, Jessica and Michael Ehrhardt of Georgetown, Parker and Amy Majors of Wimberley; Grandchildren, Helen Bobbitt of Heath, Cambria Autwell of Dallas, Madison Autwell of Northlake, Magen Bobbitt of Eustace, Ross and Galileo Majors of Wimberley; Furbabies, GemBo and Gracie of Athens, several very special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
