February 26, 1954 – November 22, 2024
Dad made sure we laughed through life. His comedy always caught us by surprise.
Michael Steven Juica left us on Friday, November 22, 2024 to go and pester mom. I am sure he felt like she had enough time without him. Born to Jorge and Estelle Juica on February 26, 1954 in Santiago, Chile, as one of five children, he excelled in school and the university.
Michael served in the air force alongside his brothers and his Colonel father in Chile helping to fight for Chile’s democracy. He made his way to the United States to then ask a young girl at a mixer if she wanted to go grab a steak. She thought “a chance to get a steak dinner”. He took her to get her steak dinner and they would marry on July 22, 1978. Many steak dinners were consumed in this marriage of forty-six years.
He worked in plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and contracting work for most of his life. Many of his life-long friends were made in a repair call to fix a broken pipe or restore air conditioning in their homes.
Michael’s joy was his children. Francisca, Lisa, Justin, and Nathan who were always found laughing with dad. Sometimes we laughed at him because well you know… His ultimate goal in life was to get us in trouble with mom.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mabank for forty years. He like to say that Jesus chased his children, who then chased his wife, and he wasn’t going to let that happen.
Michael loved his children, and his grandchildren were his world. The audience for his comedy grew he said. Papa was a favorite of JJ, Olivia, Lincoln, Eleanor, and Olivia. The ability to get the grandchildren in trouble was his goal.
He is preceded in death by his wife Karen Juica, father Jorge, mother Estelle, and brother Jorge Jr.
Left to our own devises to continue his comedy are his children, Francisca Moreno of Santiago, Lisa (Juica) Perkins and husband Austin of Frisco, Justin Juica and wife Monica of Shreveport, and Nathan Juica of Mabank; his grandchildren, JJ Moreno, Olivia Moreno, Olivia Juica, Lincoln Perkins, and Eleanor Perkins; Michael is also survived by his three brothers Ronald Juica, James Juica, and Jorge Juica.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, 11:00 am, at First Presbyterian Church of Mabank. The Rev. Dr. Ronnie G. Holloman will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church of Mabank.
Please join us in sharing his laughter and joy. We will miss him immensely.
