Larry had a fulfilling career at Southwestern Bell from 1967 until his retirement in 2001. He spent the next 13 years serving in the transportation departments of Duncanville ISD and Mabank ISD.
Larry was a dedicated Christian and member of First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City. He had a love for life, particularly for travelling, boating, and golf, and cherished spending time on the water. Larry’s deep faith in God was evident in all aspects of his life. He was always studying God’s word and touching lives. He was also an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Gun Barrel City.
In 2007, Larry and his wife Linda built their dream home on Cedar Creek Lake, where they moved full-time in 2012 after selling their home in Duncanville. It was here that there were many cherished memories with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda; his children Jon (Lisa), Tiffanie (Jason), Brent (Stacy), and Brandi (Heath); his brother Patrick (Tom); his grandchildren Meagan (Blake), Drew, Jace (Emily), Elizabeth, Ethan, Kenzie, and Cruz; and 3 great-grandchildren Ainsley, Luca, and Tatum.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
The family has asked that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City or a charity of your choice in honor of Larry Wilburn.
