Jerry Lee Mixon, “Yogi,”73, of Mabank, Texas, passed away June 6, 2023in Kemp, Texas. He was born June 30, 1949 in Kaufman County Texas to the late Clarence Jefferson Mixon, Jr. and Minnie Loree Heffington Mixon.
Yogi a name he was given in his little league years grew up in the Mabank area attending and graduating Mabank High School. He played High School football and baseball and was quite the athlete playing center and defensive linebacker on the football team. He grew to love bowling and bowls regularly in the Athens Senior League and at Tip Top in Seven Points. He married the late Carol Ruth Mixon in 1975 and they raised their family together until her death in 1997. Yogi worked as a automotive parts salesman and worked at the Water Plant in Tool as a Meter Technician by the end of his career.
Yogi is survived by his mother; Loree Mixon, children; Jerry Lee Mixon, Jr, and his wife April, Jeffery Lynn Hyde and his wife Mary, Todd Schultz and his wife Sammye, Donny Schultz and his wife Amy, Brian Schultz and his wife Leslie, Mark Schultz and his wife Paula, Barbie Gentry and her husband Brian, companion; Kelly Smith, brothers; Royce Mixon and his wife Diane, Donny Mixon and his wife Vicki, 25 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and father he is predeceased by his son; Billy Jo Schultz.
A visitation for Jerry will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Eubank Cedar Creek, 601 South 3rd Street, Mabank, Texas. A a Funeral Service will occur Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Eubank Cedar Creek.
Jerry will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery, Mabank, Texas.
