Alice Faye Almand Smitherman was born in Waxahachie, Texas, to Arthur and Lillie Mae Almand on March 10, 1952. She grew up and graduated High School in Lancaster, Texas.
Alice married James Thomas (Tommy) Smitherman May 6, 1971, in Lancaster, Texas. Together they raised 3 children.
They moved to Dallas, then Mesquite, and settled in Payne Springs, Texas, where they retired and enjoyed life at home and spent much of their time watching their grandchildren grow.

Alice became a Christian and was baptized as a teenager. Her faith in Jesus was an important part of her life and it gave her comfort knowing that her children and grandchildren shared her faith and will join her in Heaven one day.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her two sons, James Robert Smitherman and Jeffrey Michael Smitherman, her brother Wesley Almand, and her sisters Virginia Applin, Sandra Borden, and Doris Crow.
She is survived by her husband Tommy, daughter Kristie Smitherman, her daughters-in-law, Karen Smitherman Whisman and Leslie Diane Smitherman.
Her siblings: Gene Almand, Teresa Jennings, Debra Mosely, and Johnny Almand.
Alice has 10 grandchildren: Joshua Smitherman, Zachary Denson, Nathan Denson, Corey Smitherman, Jeremy Smitherman, Colten Smitherman, Alicia Smitherman Ward, Olivia Smitherman, Elizabeth Smitherman, and Jacob Smitherman.
