Normando Brenis Lint
March 28, 1935 - March 29, 2015
Normando was born in Trujillo, Peru, South America to Rodrigo Lint Bernal and Emma Brenis Perez. He grew up in Chiclayo, Peru, graduating from San Jose School for boys in 1954. He moved to Lima to work and make arrangements to immigrate to the USA where he would enroll in the preengineering program at Bethany Nazarene College in 1957. It was there that he met and married Carol his wife of 54 years.
He is survived by Carol, his daughter Patty, his son-in-law Mike, his grandchildren Stephanie, Kimberly, Levi, Dylan, Summer and James, his great-grandchildren Tyler, Connor, Jonas, Sophia, and Lucas. His brothers Genebrardo Lint Brenis and his wife Amelia Torrau de Lint and Jorge Cuneo Brenis and his wife Elena Fernandez de Cuneo, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and his grandson Tyler Mitchell.
Normando studied pre-engineering at Bethany, then in 1962 transferred to Seattle University where he obtained his Mechanical Engineering degree. Seattle became his home and after pursuing his career as an engineer for several years, he had the opportunity to become a full time musician. He was a solo guitarist at the El Goucho Restaurant and the Seattle Sheraton Green Room.
Normando started playing guitar at age 5 . He studied with several different teachers in Peru and the USA. He was an outstanding, talented, versatile guitarist, performing Classical, Spanish, Flamenco, Popular, and Gospel music. He preformed gigs for over 50 plus years as a soloist, and with two different bands: 'Los Del Rio' and 'Rumba Kings', where he would create a band of two to eight performers as required by the contract. He recorded a solo album titled "Encore".
He loved Soccer and enjoyed the Seattle Sounders. He coached his daughter's soccer team in her Junior and Senior years of high school. The girls on the team loved him especially when he showed up for their games at Memorial Stadium in his tux!
Normando began teaching Conversational Spanish at the UW Women's Center, and discovered a new profession he loved, teaching! and he was a natural at teaching. He, also taught in several elementary schools and enjoyed teaching children. With his wife they led several groups of students to visit Peru. He loved the history of his country and enjoyed sharing it.
He loved to travel. He toured Europe preforming with his guitar. And he and Carol traveled to several different countries.
Normando decided that they should be a host family for college students who were studying English. For 13 years they hosted students from Japan, Indonesia, France, Russia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. He provided a rich and rewarding experience for these students.
Normando loved his Lord Jesus, his family, his friends and his dogs. He loved life! He was an optimist, generous with his talents and he always had a big and beautiful smile for everyone!
