Myron P. " Pete" Peterson passed peacefully on January 24, 2013. Pete was born March 27, 1924 in Butler, S.D. to Clarence A. and Gertrude Peterson. He grew up on a small farm attending a country school before moving to Bristol, S.D. finishing school and graduating from Bristol High School in 1943. He enjoyed playing basketball and was a member of the Bristol High team.
After graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he was stationed in Guam during WW II.
After completing his service in the Navy Pete returned to SD where he farmed for a short time with his brothers. He moved to Seattle to join his High school sweetheart, Helen Gill. The couple were married in Seattle at University Presbyterian Church August 23,1946. They built a home in North Seattle (Shoreline) where they raised their 5 children. Pete was a loving and devoted father who loved spending time with his family camping, boating, fishing and hunting. He drove his family cross- country, back to South Dakota to visit his mother and relatives every year.
He was a dedicated union electrician from 1947 until he retired in 1987.
Pete was a member of the Elks Club (Lake City & Ocean Shores) for 36 years.
After retiring, he and Helen enjoyed the R.V. lifestyle as members of Elks 1800 Wheelers.
They traveled to parks in California and Arizona for the winter months.
He enjoyed Mariners baseball.
Pete loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren.
He will be sadly and sorely missed by them all.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Giles and Jerry Peterson, sons Ron and Clarence ("Pete") Peterson.
He leaves his family: wife Helen, daughter Judy ( & Dale) Graves -Vancouver, WA. Sons Dennis (& Cindy) Peterson - Woodinville, WA. , Duane (& Juli) Peterson - Edmonds, WA. Grandchildren: Michael (& Stacey) Graves, Heather Graves, Christian (& Samantha) Peterson, Evan Steadman, Jadriene Peterson, Zachary Peterson, Jonathan Peterson, & Lauren Peterson. Great-grandchildren: Sebastian & Layla Peterson, Kaitlyn & Nathaniel Graves. As well as one brother Jim Peterson - Bristol SD, several sisters and brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to : Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's Foundation of America or Providence Hospice of Seattle.
