He was a man of talent and intelligence, leaving a legacy full of rich history and purpose.
Jim was born on October 31, 1934, on a farm in Belden, Nebraska, to Edward Krei and Marie Pockrandt. He was the youngest of four siblings. He began serving in the U.S. Air Force when he was 18 years old. Soon after, he settled in California, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Diane, at their Foursquare Gospel church. They were married for 58 years.
Jim loved to work and stayed active his whole life. He worked as a civil engineer for both marine and aviation. He obtained his Master’s Degree during his 50s. He then became an engineering consultant and later on in life got his real estate license.
Jim was a passionate champion billiards player, frequently demonstrating his precise trick shots for the crowd. He was often unbeatable in the game, even in his 80s. He loved to give lessons at the local senior center and to his grandchildren whenever possible.
His walk with the Lord was incredibly important to him. He often testified of God’s goodness and answered prayers. His passion for life was infectious! He loved and lived for his family and grandchildren. If he wasn’t boasting about one of his grandchildren, he was enjoying his time with the family puppies.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Karen Taylor (husband-Steve) and Michelle Krei, along with his five grandchildren, Matthew Taylor (wife-Cloey Taylor), Mackenzie Taylor (husband-Hugh Davis), Madison Taylor, Makayla Chavez, and Joshua Chavez. He is preceded in death by his wife, Diane, his son, Jeffery, and his three siblings, Mildred, Don, and Helen.
“It is not necessarily the length of our life that determines our legacy; it is more the length of the shadow of our influence that defines what legacy we leave behind.”
– Boyd Bailey
