On 03/26/2020 at 0040 hours, Carolann Christine Gann of Issaquah, WA, 75, went to be with the Lord; she was a victim of the COVID-19 virus. Carolann was born in Long Beach, California on August 12, 1944, originally named Christina Joyce Kiles. After the passing of her biological mother Jean Marie Kiles (age 23) when Carolann was 15 months old, she was raised an only child by Carl and Helen Gann.
Carol was an excellent student and graduated salutatorian of her high school class in the spring of 1962. Later that summer she married Tom Bennett. Tom and Carolann have four children; the first, David Bennett, Colonel, U.S. Army, Retired (wife Evgenia); second son Robert, a Seattle family law attorney, third, daughter Michelle, Chief of Police in Edmonds and James, the youngest son, a music teacher in Pasco (late wife Kareen). After Tom and Carol’s divorce, Carol had her beautiful daughter Tiffany in 1982. Carol was married to Doug Martin from 1988-2017.
While raising her family, Carol went to college part time, and was active in community services. Her college studies resulted in her becoming a registered nurse and in 1996, she completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Carol was an RN at Harborview, Providence, Evergreen and Northwest Hospitals and also worked for a time at the Mobile Northwest Kidney Dialysis Center and as a triage nurse for Evergreen Healthcare phone lines.
Carol enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; Dave’s Chris, 31; Eric, 30; Alex, 26; Ryan, 22; Elodie,14; Veronica, 10; and Brace 8; Robert’s Ella, 17 and Carl,14; Michelle’s Tommy, 17; twins Samantha and Charles, 8; and James, 4; James’ Abigail, 25; Daniel, 22; and Selah, 20; Tiffany’s Riley, 22; (Lily, 14); Cruz, 11; Jax, 9; and Georgia, 5.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helen, and her beloved granddaughter Lily.
