William grew up in Methuen and graduated from Salem High School. After graduation he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his service, William worked for GE as a logistics rep, granting him the opportunity to live in Japan and Paris for half of his career. He was an active volunteer for many years at the homeless shelter in Salem. Outside of work and volunteering, he had a love for bowling, photography, traveling, and playing cards. He also enjoyed eating at his favorite local restaurants, indulging in Chieko’s cooking, and ending the day with a coffee ice cream soda from Treadwells. However what he cherished most was his time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Chieko Jackson; his daughter Linda Stanford and her husband Joseph; his grandchildren Brenden Stanford, Midori Stanford and her fiancé Ryan Kane; and his siblings Gene Hughes, Judy Ames, Whitney Jackson, and Robert Jackson.
Visitation for William will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:30 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral service will follow at 5:30 PM. Interment will be private.
