Sarah Elizabeth MacIsaac

Sarah Elizabeth MacIsaac, 37, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 8th following a brief illness. Sarah was the beloved daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Giarla) MacIsaac.

Sarah was a vibrant presence in the Lynn community, being honored as one of the “Faces of Lynn” in June 2019. She thrived with positivity and an amazing spirit while living with Muscular Dystrophy and was a fierce advocate for people with disabilities. For years, Sarah mentored other young people with mobility and health challenges. She was active with the Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts Foundation and was previously honored for her service to those with disabilities by the “America’s Promise” organization. She was privileged to participate in a Washington gala attended by high-ranking political and military officials on behalf of those with disabilities.

She was passionate about the Arts, regularly writing, painting and attending museums and musical theater. Art, music of all kinds, dancing, family time and her strong faith were lifelines for Sarah. She enjoyed every minute spent creating, celebrating with loved ones, or deepening her love of God and the Holy Spirit. Sarah was a successful entrepreneur as well and cherished her work as an independent consultant for Tastefully Simple. She lovingly referred to herself as the “ultimate foodie,” regularly sharing livestreaming cooking sessions and tips on her Tastefully Simple Facebook page. Sarah never allowed her disability to slow her down. She lived a life of gratitude, journaling regularly about the Blessings bestowed upon her. She loved the outdoors and lots of sunshine, volunteering for years as a greeter at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus. At Breakheart, she found peace, joy and solitude in the beauty surrounding her. She also enjoyed public speaking and was an active member of St. Pius V Parish, where she served as a lector, taught religious education and participated in the parish’s prayer group. Sarah was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and served in many organizations that empower women in business.

Sarah loved children and was especially proud of the loves of her life, her nieces Dorothy Rose Parker, 10 and Georgia Marie Parker, 6 and her nephew, Olin Griffith Parker, 8, all of Louisiana. She also leaves behind her loving sister Rachael MacIsaac Parker and her husband Olin Grant Parker of Louisiana, her adoring brother Robert Giarla MacIsaac of Lynn, Godparents Neil and Sheila MacIsaac of Byfield, Goddaughter Catherine Rose Kalogeros of Georgetown, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Sarah was predeceased by her grandparents, Johan Marie and Peter Lawrence MacIsaac of Lynn and Dorothy Agnes and Robert Louis Giarla of Nahant.

Sarah believed deeply in the power of positivity. In her honor, her family is requesting those who loved her to spread her love through acts of kindness. The family also requests that funeral attendees dress in vibrant colors to honor Sarah’s vibrant life and spirit.

Family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home in Lynn, MA. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2020 at St. Pius V Church in Lynn, MA. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
