Bonin, Robert J., 93, a lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away, Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Pierre and Alice (Cormier) Bonin. He attended St. Jean Grammar School and Lynn Classical High School. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII , and was an artillery operator in the South Pacific and served in the Marshall Islands, the Philippines and in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He worked in dispatch at GE in Lynn and Everett for over 45 years until his retirement. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family and working on projects on his home. Robert was the beloved husband of 73 years of, Florence M. (Patten) Bonin of Lynn; the loving father of Robert C. Bonin and his wife, Nancy of Amesbury, Linda M. (Smallis) Towey, and her husband , John with whom he lived in Lynn, Gale M. Bettinger of Saugus and John J. Bonin of Lynn; the dear brother of the late Beatrice Gaudet, Marie Maes, and Honore and Raymond Bonin; the cherished grandfather of Nikolette Bonin, Peter Bonin and his wife Rebecca, Danielle Bonin, Michael Bonin , David Bettinger, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Denise Bettinger, Christopher Foster and Jake Foster, 6 great-grandchildren and the uncle of many nieces and nephews. Robert’s funeral will be at CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Monday, November 9, at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
