P. Leon Nault, age 90, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy (Williams) Nault, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Geraldine (Moran/Nault) Reynolds and the late Alfred Nault; he was the stepson of the late Frederick Reynolds.
Leon graduated from St. Mary’s Boy’s High School, Class of 1952 and studied mechanical engineering at Lowell Institute. He was employed by General Electric through the late 1960s and retired from GTE Sylvania in the early 1990s. He also served in the Massachusetts National Guard during the 1950s.
Leon loved to read and had an enthusiasm for Ernest Hemingway while in high school. But historical books were his passion, especially about World War II and military aviation. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, a hobby he shared with his son until his last few months.
As a young man, he took ballroom dance classes, leading to a lifelong enjoyment of dancing. He shared this enthusiasm with the late Jan Sanborn, his partner of 17 years. Together, they spent much time traveling, exploring the world, and enjoying time with family. At yet another senior dance, Leon met Ida Di Fulvio. She brought him great comfort and companionship in his final years. Described as a true gentleman, anyone needing help or a sympathetic ear could always count on Leon.
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Nault) Thibault and her husband Richard of Virginia Beach, VA; his son David Nault and his wife Anneliese of Billerica; his granddaughter Melanie Nault of Brooklyn, NY; his granddaughter Sarah Nault of Providence, RI; his brother Brian Reynolds of Lynn; his sister Gail (Reynolds) Ewell and her husband Richard of Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Leann Nault; his grandson, Philip Nault; his sister, Shirley (Nault) Daum; his brother, Charles Owen Nault; his sister, Barbara (Reynolds) Laine; and his sister, Joan Reynolds.
A Visitation for P. Leon will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM in the Cuffe- McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial will be private.
