Mary E. Gerrity

LYNN –Mary Elizabeth (Atkinson) Gerrity, age 73, of Dover, NH, formerly a longtime resident of Lynn, , passed away on Sunday, August 4th at her home in Dover. Mary was the devoted wife of Joseph Gerrity of Dover with whom she shared over 51 years of marriage.

Mary was the loving mother of Michelle Grace and her husband, Neil, Karen Gerrity and Mark Gerrity and his wife, Misti, all of Lynn; the cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Gerrity of Lake Tahoe, CA, Anna Grace and Liam and Meghan Gerrity, all of Lynn; the dear sister of David Atkinson and his wife, Doris of Sandwich and George Atkinson of Arlington and his late wife, Louise; and the aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Born in Somerville and raised and educated in Lynn, Mary was the daughter of the late Cecil and Elizabeth (Kenyon) Atkinson. She graduated from Lynn Classical High School with the Class of 1963. She worked as a special projects coordinator for the US Post Office in North Reading for over 20 years until her retirement. Mary enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Joe, including to Rome; camping trips including to Casco, ME and most of all just spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Friday, August 9th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, August 10th, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St., Lynn. Burial services will be private Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
