Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Jane (Gilbane) Flynn. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1937 and later graduated from business school.
Prior to her retirement, Mary was a secretary at General Electric in Lynn. She worked with many wonderful people and made lifelong friends there.
Among her many volunteer activities, Mary was deeply dedicated to the Union Hospital Auxiliary and served as Treasurer for over 30 years. She greatly enjoyed the friendships she made over the years with her fellow auxilians.
Mary was a friend to all and throughout her life she was deeply focused on helping others. Her kindness, compassion, generosity and encouragement to family, neighbors and friends alike will long be fondly remembered.
She is survived by her siblings, Julie Griffin of Dennis, MA, George Flynn of Lynn, MA and Margaret Cresta of Candia, NH and her sister-in-law Maryjane Flynn of King George, VA. Mary was predeceased by her sister Genevieve and brothers James, John and Thomas. Mary is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews, 42 grand nieces and nephews and 23 great grand nieces and nephews. Incredibly, Mary remembered each and every birthday, anniversary, graduation and life celebration of all of her relatives and friends with cards, calls and gifts.
Mary’s visiting hours will be in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St Lynn on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Pius V Church, Maple St., Lynn at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
