Mary E. (Cash) Donovan, age 93, of Lynn, MA, foster daughter of the late William and Susan Cash of Marblehead, passed away on January 19th, 2020 at 12:30 PM in Beverly, MA. She was born on October 21th, 1926 at Salem Hospital and grew up in Marblehead, MA. She graduated Marblehead High School in the class of 1944 and started work at the phone company as an operator. She married Philip R Donovan of Lynn on August 1st, 1948 with whom she happily spent 51 ½ years of marriage until his passing on May 31st, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Phil and Robert Cash, and her sister Eleanor (Cash) Lily.
After marrying, she worked part time now and then in retail, but mostly enjoyed being a stay-home Mom & Homemaker taking very good care of the family. She also loved trips, camping and rides with the family, especially along Lynn Beach. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting along with crosswords.
She is survived by her foster brother Jim Laramie of Marblehead, her two sons, Philip Donovan of Brentwood, NH and Robert Donovan of Lynn, MA. as well as her sister in law Anna (Donovan) Corbet and Brother In-Law William Donovan. Also, her cat “Timmy” along with her “grand cats,” Tweek and Angel, that lived with her and her youngest son, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
A Private (Family and Close Friends) Graveside Service will be at St Mary’s Cemetery in Lynn in the early spring.
