Marie L. Gauvin Despres

Mrs. Marie L. (Gauvin) Despres, age 104, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on May 14th. She was the widow of Aurele Despres. She was a resident of Lynn for the past 64 years and prior to moving to Lynn she resided in Moncton New Brunswick for 40 years.

Born on a small farm in Foxcreek, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Leonie (Auffrey) Gauvin. She was predeceased by her brothers Amedee, Aime, and Thomas Gauvin and her sisters Leona Richard and Florence Gauvin.

Marie was the loving mother of David Despres and her step-son Roger Despres. She was the grandmother of Susan, Joe, Maryanne, John and David. Marie is also survived by great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was a faithful communicant at St. Pius V, prior to that she was a communicant at St. Jean-Baptiste Church where she was a member of the Ladies’ Sodality. Marie was an avid reader, traveled extensively and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. Marie’s family would like to thank the professionals and staff at Phillips Manor for their kind and compassionate care

Marie’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Jean’s Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, Lynn, MA.
