“Larry” as he was known by his family and friends was born in North Tonawanda on October 2, 1947 to the late Carl Arndt and Ernestine (Luther) Arndt. Larry is survived by his daughter Melissa Roddie and her husband Scott and their children Ian, Drew, and Aaron of Swampscott; his brother Richard Arndt and his wife Terri of North Tonawanda, NY; his niece Stephanie Magnuszewski and her husband Dan of Amherst, NY, and Lisa Schley and her husband Dan of North Tonawanda, NY. He is also survived by several great nieces.
Larry graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1965 and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College in 1969. He was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington during his time served in the Army.
Larry worked for Cramer Industrial Supplies and in real estate before becoming a landlord. He was an active member of Salem United Church of Christ and also volunteered his time with Cancer Wellness Center. Larry loved being outdoors, working in his yard and especially riding his bike. He was happiest spending time with his grandsons and shared his love for the outdoors by taking them on hikes in the woods and biking with them to support the annual Ride for Roswell.
A memorial service for Larry will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 11am at the Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan St, Tonawanda, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Salem United Church of Christ or to Roswell Park Cancer Research.
