Kathy was born on November 17, 1943 to the late Captain John Lawler (USAF) and Marjorie (Thornton) Lawler in Gainesville, Florida where her father was stationed in active service with the US Air Force, she was raised in Lynn and remained a devoted north shore resident her entire life. She went on to graduate from Boston College in 1965 and had a 30-year career teaching in the Lynn Public Schools. She was also a long-time assistant branch manager at Lechemere in Danvers and made many good friends during her time there. Kathy was an avid traveler, enjoying many adventures with her teaching colleagues, she loved her many Siamese kitties over the years. Kathy especially adored her 3 grandchildren and took special joy in supporting them in their interests. Having grown up and lived by the ocean all her life, the North Shore beaches held a special place in her heart.
Kathy is survived by her son John Walsh (Stephanie) of Salem, her daughter Sarah Walsh Cummings (Mathew) of Ipswich, her three grandchildren Emily Walsh of NYC, Abby Walsh of Salem, and Liam Cummings of Ipswich, she is also survived by a sister Maureen Lawler (Joanne MacInnis) of Gloucester, and a brother John Lawler (Karen) of Lynnfield, her two nephews and a niece and a large extended Irish American family. She was predeceased in 2006 by her husband James Walsh.
Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Cuffe- McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. An In House Funeral Service will be held the following morning, Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM, in the Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
