Jean Wells

Jean A. (Norton) Wells, 74, a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016. Born in Newburyport, Jean was the daughter of the late Alfred E. and Charlotte (Martin) Norton and the beloved wife of 50 years of Dr. Kevin Wells; Jean was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1959, Lynn Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1962, and the University of Massachusetts – Worcester, where she earned her Certified Nurse Practitioner designation. Jean was a devoted nurse and worked in the Lynn Hospital Emergency room and was instrumental in establishing the Swampscott Trauma and Treatment Center in 1982. Her true, devotion, though was to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

Jean was the loving mother of Daniel K. Wells of Lowell, John D. Wells and Lori of North Reading, Michael J. Wells of Everett, Jeffrey S. Wells and Raquel Serrato of Seville, Spain, and Mary K. Flynn and Michael of Wenham; the dear sister of the late Karen Sullivan; the cherished grandmother of Luke, Sara, Jake, Ben, Joe, Mikey and Patrick, and the aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Jean’s funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME,157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday, March 22nd at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Grove Street, Lynnfield on Tuesday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
