James was born and raised in Lynn by his late mother Frances (Tobin) Muldoon. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School and after serving in the Army in Korea, Jim went on to work for Raymond’s Department Store as a department manager in their Lynn, Saugus and Methuen locations. It was there he met his wife and subsequently settled in Swampscott. He eventually joined North Shore News for a number of years before he retired. In his younger days he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Jim shared 48 years of marriage with his beloved wife Nancy. To the end, she was his greatest source of joy and comfort. With Nancy, he raised two daughters: Lisa Ledbury and Debra Muldoon both of Swampscott. Their sorrow at his passing is immeasurable.
Telling a story was one of Jim’s greatest talents. Witty and mischievous, sometimes audacious and always imaginative, this gift was never more special than when he shared it with his grandchildren: Jennifer Ledbury, Andrew Ledbury, and Thomas “TJ” Ledbury, all of Swampscott.
In addition to his wife, daughters and grandchildren, he leaves his cousins, Robert and Priscilla Newhall, Richard Newhall, and Mildred and Ken LaBarre. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Joseph, and Thomas Muldoon. Jim was brother-in-law to Sandra and John McCormack, James and Kathleen Desrocher, Shirley Desrocher, Leo “Buddy” and Deborah Desrocher, and Barbara Jean and Larry Jones. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
