TEWKSBURY – Henry Stanley Romanowski, 86, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, Billerica and Ocala, FL, passed away July 16, 2018. Born in Cambridge he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Pauline (Myslivy) Romanowski. He was the husband of the late Raffaela “Ellie” (Pettine) Romanowski with whom he shared 11 years of marriage and of Marcia (Walkins) Romanowski of Natick with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Linda King and her husband, William of Natick and of Scott Romanowski of Billerica; the cherished grandfather of Olivia and Sadie King; the dear brother of Edmund Romanowski and his wife, Joan of Lynn, 5 nephews and a close cousin, Shirley Walkins of Ocala, FL.
Henry graduated from Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge with the Class of 1949. He served in Germany in the US Air Force, 86th Fighter Interceptor Group as an Airman 1st Class in a flight simulator unit from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. During his tenure in the Air Force Henry used his artistic skills to add cities and terrain to the simulator's blank tracking boards, which so impressed the commanders that he was sent to several other bases to paint their boards with the local features.
A talented commercial artist, Henry was self-employed as a sign painter for over 25 years and was the official sign painter for the Home Show, Boat Show, and Sportsman Show in Boston for three successive convention management companies. He was a life member of the Woburn Sportsmen’s Association. He enjoyed playing music and building and flying RC model airplanes.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 25th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn. His funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
