PEABODY - Franklyn K. Collum, 88, a resident of Peabody since 1982, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017. Born and educated in Lynn, Franklyn was the son of the late Walter Collum and his wife, Ellen and the late Esther (Moore) Linehan and her husband, James Linehan; He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley B. (Clark) Collum with whom he shared 16 years of marriage; the devoted father of Margaret E. Collum of Saugus, MA, Franklyn K. Collum Jr. and his wife, Mary Meyers of Rochester, NY, and Nola L. Castle and her husband, Thomas of Raymond, NH; the cherished grandfather of 8, Jennifer Daniels and her fiancé, John Rivard, Dawn O'Buck and husband, Michael, Derek Collum and wife, Lynne, Stephanie Reichelson and husband, Jason, Scott Castle and wife, Rhonda, Heather Brown and husband, Stephen, Thomas Castle and wife, Tiffany, and Ashley Castle; and 10 great grandchildren, Ethan A., Dylan, Corbin, Maya, Drew, Ethan C., Porter, Eli, Lydia, and Ella; the dear step-father of Jane and Charles Carey of Bradenton, FL, Gail and John Tousignant, of Hookset, NH, and James and Deborah Murphy of Peabody, MA and step-grandfather of Andy and Melissa Carey, Jill and Rob Wilkins, Lauren and Craig Addario, Michael Murphy and Eric Lutz and step great grandchildren, Lily and Ivy Wilkins. He is also survived by his loving companion, Betty O’Leary, of Medford and her family who cared for him.
Frank graduated from Lynn English High School Class of 1947. He served in the Navy after WWII and was an airman of the Attack Squadron 16-A off the USS Antietam, USS Boxer and the USS Valley Forge Aircraft Carriers. He was employed as an aviation supervisor for Van Dusen Aircraft, later Page Airways, at Logan Airport for over 43 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Rocci Post VFW in Beverly.
Franklyn’s funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn on Friday, June 23rd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 136 Lynn Street. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
