Elaine was born in Lynn, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Dowling) Sullivan. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School with the Class of 1949. She earned her Registered Nurse status at the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. She served in the US Air Force in Iceland and the United States as a nurse during the Vietnam War. She worked as the public health nurse at Lynn City Hall for many years until her retirement in 1998. After her retirement from the City she worked as the parochial school nurse at St. Pius V, Sacred Heart and St. Jean Baptiste for several years.
Elaine enjoyed walking in the Lynn Woods, the Breakheart Reservation, or along Lynn Beach and Red Rock Park. In her younger years she enjoyed golfing at Gannon’s Golf Course. She also enjoyed traveling when she served in the Air Force to Iceland, New Mexico, and Alabama as well as more recently enjoying trips to Ireland and Sedona, Arizona among other places. Most of all she loved spending time with her entire family and most recently with her great-grandson, Ben.
Elaine was the loving mother of Patricia DeMontier of Lynn; the cherished grandmother of Thomas DeMontier and his wife, Tiffany of Melrose and Michael DeMontier and his husband, Andrew Farley of Wakefield; the adoring great-grandmother of Ben DeMontier; the dear sister of Donald Sullivan and his wife, Joanne of Lynn and the late William G. “Gerry” Sullivan and the late Philip Sullivan; and the aunt of many nieces and nephews, including close nieces, Beth Hilton and Meghan Sullivan, both of Lynn.
Elaine’s funeral will be held from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA on Saturday, February 16th at 10:00 a.m. followed at 11:00 a.m. by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
