Dan graduated from St. Mary’s Boys’ High School and the American Banking Institute. He was employed for many years in the Banking Industry, both locally and in Florida, prior to his retirement.
He was predeceased by his parents, J. Francis and Margaret Shanahan Moran, his first wife, Mary Ann Murphy Moran, his son William C. Moran and his brother Joseph F. Moran, formerly of Lynnfield.
He leaves his present wife Shirley Cooke Moran of Clearwater, his son Robert W. Moran and his wife Christina Feigley, his granddaughter Alyssa Moran of Holiday, FL, as well as his brother Attorney Philip D. Moran and his wife Carole A. Regan Moran of Lynn, formerly of Salem, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dan was very active in retirement at the Oaks in Clearwater and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He was an Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Soloist at St. Cecelia’s Parish in Clearwater. A die hard Red Sox and Patriots fan, Dan served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He never forgot he was a Lakesider at heart where he lived in the family home on the shores of Flax Pond for many years. He was a long time active member of St. Pius V Parish, as well as Valladolid Council #70 of the Knights of Columbus.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend his visiting hours on Friday, September 23rd, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. A funeral Mass in his honor will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24th at 10:00 AM at St. Pius V Church in Lynn. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn.
