Cyndi (Oliveira) Martel, 38, of Lynn, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Salem Hospital. She was the loving wife of Danielle Martel, with whom she shared nearly 16 cherished years of marriage.
Born in Cambridge, Cyndi was the daughter of Patricia (Scott) Chatwood of Somerville and John and Sonia Oliveira of Palm Coast, FL. After graduating from Somerville High School, Cyndi went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Business from Baypath University, Master of Science in Management from SNHU, and was one semester away from completing her Master of Science in Healthcare Information, also from SNHU. Over the past 16 years, Cyndi has worked various full time positions for Mass General Brigham while also helping to care for her family.
Cyndi was a homebody whose biggest love in life was making lifelong memories for her kids. She was the master of all of the small moments that she turned magical. With her family Cyndi loved their yearly trips to North Conway, where her favorite place was the Christmas Loft. She loved all things Christmas. She loved showering her kids with everything they ever wanted but truly it was her little touches that will be missed the most.
Cyndi’s love of New Kids on the Block rivaled that of the biggest “Block Heads.” She and Danielle attended over 10 of their concerts together. Her children shared their Mymy’s love of “her boys” and they spent hours enjoying their music as a family.
Cyndi was a selfless and loving foster parent for over 37 children over the last 8 years. She was also actively involved in the Shoemaker School community activities and was an avid sports fan. She loved watching the Patriots every Sunday with her family and was also a loyal Red Sox fan. Her love of sports was expressed in her prized sports memorabilia collection. Cyndi also had collections of hats and sneakers, as those were some of her favorite accessories.
In addition to her wife and parents, Cyndi leaves behind her children Renesme Ragusa “Martel of the heart,” Ianna, Hunter, and Tessa Martel. She also leaves behind her sister Stephanie MacMillan, and her brother Julian Oliveira and his wife Nicole of Peabody. She is also survived by her in-laws, James Martel and Mr. and Mrs. William Connor. She leaves behind many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends including her aunt Kathy Keating and cousins Ashley, Kayla, Sawyer, and Danny, aunt Natalia Oliveira and cousins Natasha and Alex. She was an amazing aunt to ten nieces and nephews who she treasured with all of her heart, including her unborn niece Sofia who she was already in love with.
A visitation for Cyndi will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 10AM-2PM followed by a brief service in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, MA. Afterwards, family and friends are invited to gather for what her children want to call her “celebration of life.” Details for this celebration will be available at the visitation.
