Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Louise (McNabb) Currie. She was raised and educated in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and later moved to Lynn and spent most of her life in Lynn, retiring to Florida to be near her daughter in October 2010.
Brenda was a member of the Saugus VFW Women’s Auxiliary #2346 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0210. Though missing her old friends and family in the Lynn area, Brenda enjoyed her new friends and activities in Florida, being near the warm beaches, sightseeing and spending time with her daughter, Deborah.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Deborah Alexander of Ormond Beach, FL; her son, Barry Atkins and wife Sharon of Georgetown, TX; and her brothers, Francis Currie of Florida and Buddy Currie of Georgetown, PEI, Canada. She was the Grandmother of Donald S. Alexander of Beverly, Shawn Atkins of Georgetown, TX, Christine Atkins of Winchester and Jody Greer of Georgetown, TX. Also survived by many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Sullivan, Ada Lonergan, Beverly Fontaine and Verna Currie.
Brenda’s Funeral Service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-7PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
