Alex was one of the first few friends I ever made while at Drexel University. One of the funniest, one of the most caring and unselfish brothers I have ever known. I'm so sad we're never got the chance to reconnect after we left Drexel.  Rest easy my brother.

Alex...I remember you well as a little boy.  I would see you everyday and try to talk to you, but you would always just smile and silently look away with those beautiful eyes.  You were 3 years old when your parents lived close to us, in a rooftop apartment.  I  remember I used to constantly worry that you might fall from that height or stumble down the steps.  But God kept you safe until eventually you grew up to be a very handsome young man with the same beautiful smile and eyes.  I remember how impressed I was watching you help your father with the sound equipment and help with his evangelistic concert .  Most of all, I remember you finally TALKED to me!!!  I was awed by a certain charm you possessed.  Then when your mother told me you had moved off to California, I remember frequently thinking of you and praying for you, especially when I heard of earthquakes or fires. I prayed for you to come back home.  Well, you are home now, Alex...all the way home. In fact you have gone on before us and we can't understand it.  May God comfort your mother & father and sister until that day when we all meet again.  It's just as your Daddy sings, "What A Day that Will Be"!


Your sense of humor was evident right away when we were first in contact. 
You were accepting of help and support and shared “it really put you at ease knowing we were all there” for you.  I am still appreciating all the time you took to share your progress when feeling better.
  You became a great partner on nature walks, you were “always up for a hike” and a partner in crime when it came to donuts!
It is a special nephew who is willing to spend time with an old aunt ❤️ You enriched my life, introducing me to your favorite music and listening to mine!
  We had many plans left to persue: films, hikes, camping and star gazing. You had many plans of your own- researching history and finishing that novel!

Alex you were drawn to nature and the beauty the world had to offer
Alex I consider you  a talented photographer and writer. You had many interests, and you leave this world unfinished and a less gentle, less kind place without you.

My most handsome cousin Alex,
We were so close in age, but lived far apart for most of our lives. In spite of that, whenever we got together I always had a great time with you. As little kids I remember playing games, enlisting my dad to chase us in tag, and discussing how you liked to watch wrestling even though I thought it was fake. 
As we grew older there were a couple of visits when you were practically mute. We still had fun, playing football with your neighbors, playing some Pokémon video game, and running around your church, but I couldn’t  understand why you’d stopped talking. 
On a later visit, when we were young adults, we hung out one-on-one in your room one night, and you were speaking again. Not just talking though, it seemed like you had “found your voice”. You seemed happy, like you’d discovered something, and just being around you was a joy. 
I was so proud of you for walking away from mechanical engineering to pursue theater instead.  For someone like me who still hasn’t pursued her passion, you were an inspiration, because you were brave enough to do what you loved instead of doing what was advised or expected.
(Your open letter to George Zimmerman made me proud too! I’m not sure I ever expressed those sentiments, but I certainly hope I did)
We met up again a couple of years later when you found time to meet me for dinner while I was waiting for a train in Philly.
Then there was another near meeting in LA, but unfortunately I was running behind schedule and couldn’t swing it.
After that, I remember a Thanksgiving Day spent with the Archer family, but then nothing else until your diagnosis brought you back to Massachusetts. 
I’m sorry to say that I only met up with you once this past year. We were geographically closer than ever, but I guess that proximity made meeting up seem less urgent than it had been on those occasions when I was only passing through your city for a few hours.
I wish I’d made the time. And I wish you’d had more time.
