Rev. Theodore “Ted” Joshua, of Forest, passed away on Thursday April 20, 2023. He was the loving husband of Nancy T. Joshua.
Ted was born in Moodbidri India on February 21, 1929 to Rev. Anand and Sarah K. Joshua. He served in the Royal Indian Airforce as an Air Control officer. After his salvation experience with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Ted left the military and attended Berean Baptist Bible College in Bangalore. Ted became a professor at that college, and briefly served as the Dean of Biblical studies.
He pastored Union Gospel Church for 5 years and Faith Baptist Church for 7 years, both located in Bangalore India. Shortly after his arrival to the United States, Ted began to pastor Browns Mills Baptist Church - a small rural church in Burlington County, NJ. He faithfully shepherded this flock for 32 years until he retired at the age of 83. Ted had a love for sharing his faith with others. He also enjoyed reading and had a passion for flowers and gardening. Ted and Nancy were members of Lakewood Baptist Church in Evington. Ted briefly taught Sunday School classes there.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nancy; predeceased by his daughter Suzanne (Andrew) Taylor, and grandson Luke, daughter Sarah (Mark) Kuno, son Glynn (Lynn) Joshua; granddaughters - Courtney, Jennifer, Bethany; grandsons - Stephen, Daniel, Michael and Jonathan; 11 great-grandchildren, and predeceased by son John (Sheri Lynn) Joshua and grandsons Ted “TJ” and Tyler. He was the last of his six siblings and survived by many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church, 2469 Sunburst Rd, Evington, VA 24550.
