Roger Lee (Buck) Maddox, 59, of Evington, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Born October 20, 1954 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Hollie Lee Maddox, Jr. and the late Marion Lane Maddox. Buck was a devoted and loving husband to Kimberly West Maddox. He was a 1973 graduate of Amherst County High School and attended Evington United Methodist Church. Buck was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as an electrician and lead man with Simplimatic Engineering of Lynchburg. He had numerous hobbies and interests, including trophy and plaque engraving for youth area teams, drag racing, and Texas Holdem Poker. Buck enjoyed spending time with his family, animals, friends and was an avid UVA and Colts fan. In addition to his beloved wife, Buck is survived by two sons, Benjamin Lee Maddox and fiancée Jacquelyn Gros of MCAS New River, NC and John David Maddox of Forest; one brother, Richard L. Maddox, Sr. and wife Teresa; one sister, Vickie L. Coffey and husband Rickey, all of Madison Heights; two nieces, Jennifer M. Maynard and husband Paul and Laurie W. Bell and husband Sherman; four nephews, Richard L. Maddox, Jr. and wife Heather, Steven R. Coffey, Michael D. Coffey, and David E. Coffey and wife Beth; four great nephews, Cameron and Caysen Coffey and Brandon and Andrew Bell; a brother-in-law, Carlisle F. West and a host other nieces, nephews and a number of special friends. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Evelyn Mitchell officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Evington United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the UVA liver transplant team, nurse practioners, liver clinic, and 5 West staff.
