Richard "Bill" William Carroll

Richard “Bill” William Carroll, 77, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, February 10, 2020, at his residence. He was the husband of 52 years to Carole Williams Carroll. Born June 27, 1942, in Norwich, CT, he was the son of the late Daniel Thomas Carroll and the late Evelyn Doris Bosse Carroll. Bill was a retired insurance agent, music teacher at Linkhorne Middle School and a member of Meade Memorial United Methodist Church. He taught in the Lynchburg School system and loved his music. Bill served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He also was the founding president of the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra and president of the Life Underwriters of Lynchburg. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Thomas Carroll. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two children, Angela Carroll of Fairfax, VA and Sean Carroll and his wife Elizabeth of Newnan, GA; one sister, Mary Beth Christopher of Deltona, FL; two grandchildren, Alexander Carroll and Addison Carroll; two other “grandchildren”, Paige Hardy and Wes Spangler; and other loving family member and friends. All great people are tested by God." - Muhammad Ali A memorial service will be conducted, 11am, Friday, February 14, 2020 at Meade Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keon Huh officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 am at the church. Entombment at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meade United Methodist Church, the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra or the Lynchburg Youth Symphony Orchestra.
