Marvin Adams Thomas

On November 23, 2012, our Lord called home His faithful servant, Marvin Adams Thomas, 81, of Lynchburg. He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Mary Alice Jennings Thomas.
Born June 7, 1931, in Appomattox, he was a son of the late Elbert North Thomas, and Maggie Elsie Guill Thomas. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a United States Army veteran having served in Korea. He was retired from VDOT, after 38 years of service. He was a member of the American legion Post 16, and of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. Marvin loved the Lord and his family. We will miss his wonderful smile and how he always made you laugh.
Survivors also include three children, Dianne Hogan and husband Gary, of Evington, Sherry Sharrow and husband Joe, of Fredericksburg, and Bud Thomas and wife Donna, of Solon, OH; three brothers, Fred Thomas, and wife Shirley, of Lynchburg, Herman Thomas and wife Sue, of Lynchburg, and Clayton Thomas, of SC; his sister, Myrtle Duck and husband Ken, of Gainesville, VA; six grandchildren, Brayden, and Grace Hogan, John Hefley, Adam Sharrow, and Christopher and Daniel Thomas, other relatives and many friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 27, 2012, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, and at other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the funeral home, by the Rev. Dr. Robert Putt. Interment will follow, with military honors by American Legion Post 16, at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to West Lynchburg Baptist Church, or to Meals on Wheels.
