Joy Davis “Smurf” Graybill, 81, of Forest, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late George Dewitt Graybill, Sr.
Born on July 20, 1933 in Elkhorn, WV, she was the daughter of the late Willard Blane Davis and Mabel Snow Davis.
Joy was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Lynchburg. She enjoyed taking trips to Alaska to visit friends, reading detective books, and watching old westerns.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Jane Davis and her brother, Willard B. Davis, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Graybill and Wendy Lafone; her son, George D. “Chip” Graybill, Jr. all of Forest; four grandchildren, Marty Dolan, Dianne Harris, Hillary Lafone and fiancé Eddie Nemitz, and Cody Graybill; five great grandchildren, Alex, Skylar, Brooke Nicole, Jakob, and Kaylee; her beloved dog, Buster; and special friends, John and Peggy Beasley of Alaska.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Clyde Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
