John Thomas Cheatham

John Thomas “Tom” Cheatham, 70, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013 at his residence. He was the devoted husband of Joyce Wooldridge Cheatham for thirty-seven years. Born March 22, 1943 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Frank Thomas and Elizabeth Woodfin Cheatham. Tom was a salesman with Acosta Sales and Marketing, where he won numerous awards for sales. He was an active member, Deacon, and Board member at Memorial Christian Church. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by four children, Susan Wooldridge of Lynchburg, Samuel Wooldridge of Fredericksburg, Timothy Wooldridge of Evington and Michael Wooldridge and wife Daronda of Bedford; two sisters, Jeanette Hammock and husband Bob of Rustburg and Leigh Tucker and husband Andrew of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Michael, II, Kristen, and Raymond; three great-grandchildren and many other special family members and friends, including the Rev. Robert Woodfin.. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Memorial Christian Church with the Reverends Virgil and Sue Knipp officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Christian Church. Whitten Funeral Homes & Cremation Services is serving the family.
