James Claiborne Moore, 75, of Evington, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Born on June 6, 1949, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Burnace Rice Moore and Rebecca Avalon Whitten Moore. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Mary L. Moore; three daughters, Dawn Lyn Franklin (James), Wendy Michele Reid (Tim), and Angela Marie Crawley (Chris Morris); one son, Michael Allen Moore; and a cherished family of 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous beloved fur grandbabies, a testament to his deep love for dogs.
A retired owner and operator of G & S Bug Repair, Jim was known for his work ethic and dedication. He was an avid motorcyclist who found joy in riding the back roads and mountains. A lifelong fan of Dale Earnhardt, he followed the racing legend’s career with unwavering enthusiasm. Jim had a passion for gardening, eagerly tending to his plants each year, and he cherished his time spent outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or watching wildlife. His family and friends will remember him for his dry sense of humor and his warm, loving spirit.
His family will celebrate his life privately.
