Don't know how much of this will make it through, but,.....
I knew him, but, not knew him. 
I knew him in 1991-1998, didn't recognize him from the 100 pound weight loss almost.  Never knew the last name either.  Scary fellow.  
I was very concerned for the path he was going down.  Turns out, he went the opposite direction after all. Different looking guy than what I remember.  The photos sealed it. Thank you guys for posting those.
I got the "gw" part, and followed through, dang it. He may have guided me to this, several  things fell this week, strange happenings. Sort of like "I made it".  I see this.

Can't believe I'm just finding this out between the Pandemic and my own health issues I lost touch... You were and are my Brother and you'll always be alive in my mind and heart! RIP Brother Headbanger! You were one of a kind! LAD

I've known George (GW) for ~20  years.  We met through our church -Tree of Life & Rock Solid Ministries. 
We went through Overcomers together. My adopted nephew from Richmond and I cleaned his house on Campbell Ave one time & he paid us.

George has always been a trip! He made everyone laugh with his hilarious sense of humor.  He loved his God, his 3 sons & family.
He worked hard and he was always looking for sustainable work.

When Pastor Mike rented out the entire movie theater for our congregation to watch "The Passion," wildly George and  I sat together and I  wept loudly at the scenes where Jesus suffered.  He asked me if I was alright. He had great compassion!

And on that thread of compassion, George and I stood together in lines  for several funerals and now I will be standing in line to see you, buddy! I know it's just a shell of a body, the real thing is in Heaven where there is no more pain, no suffering and no tears. 

I remember GW in high school and he was a great friend. He could always make you smile or laugh no matter how you were feeling.  He had that touch!! Reconnected on Facebook so many years after high school and his ability to make you smile or laugh never dissappeared!!! Heaven gained a beautiful and kind angel!! I will miss you bunches, GW!!! REST IN HEAVEN!

Many great memories with GW, we worked together at Southeast Vinyl Co. for a few years.  Went to a lot of concerts together and had many laughs. He will be sorely missed he was my friend and brother for over 30 years. I'll miss talking with him. My prayers for the entire family. 

So sorry tobhear of GW passing my prayers go out to his family. 

George W. Cyrus  or as we remember him as G.W. Will be missed. I went to school with him and unfortunately may of the " PEPPY CROWD " picked on him which I know hurt him but G.W. delt with it as best he could. G.W. at heart was a good person if you took the time to know himl. Several yeas later he came to Christ and it changed him to the man we always knew he was, happy, kind hearted gentleman. G.W. will be missed

Met G.W. at the Windmill way back when he was bigger and I was smaller. I was SO glad the mountain hugging my future wife turned out to be her younger cousin. Shelby and I will miss him very much.

Memorial Service

George was preceded in death by his father, James "Buddy" Thomas Cyrus, Jr.


He is survived by his mother, Shirley Abbott Reynolds; three sons, Daniel Cyrus of Evington, William Cyrus and Gavin Cyrus, both of Lynchburg; a sister, Sabrina Mays of Campbell County; uncles, Gene Abbott, Joe Jackson and Johnny Jackson and his feline companion, “Fat Boy”.
