Born February 19, 1916 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late David Albert and Ella Lee Thompson Mayhew and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert, Berkley, and Emery Mayhew and four sisters, Bertha M. Williams, Lizzie M. Creasy, Virgie M. Tice, and Reva M. Dudley. Mrs. Potter was retired from the Craddock & Terry Shoe Corp. and was a former employee of the Lynchburg Hosiery Mill with thirty-five years of service. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church, where she was also a member of the Loyal Sons and daughters Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Potter was the last of her immediate family, but, is survived by many special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Fairview Christian Church with the Rev. Curtis Wheeler and the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating with eulogy by Joan Tice. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Christian Church or the Christian Men’s Fellowship Youth Camp of Fairview Christian Church.
