Born on October 20, 1956, in Lynchburg, Clay was the son of the late Grady Allen Perry and the late Beulah Greene Abbott.
He was preceded in death by his sister Deborah Haynes.
Clay was known for his kind heart and gentle spirit. He was a soft spoken man, but his presence was always felt by those around him. He had a way of making everyone feel at ease, and his genuine warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew him. Clay's passing has left a void in the lives of his family, who will greatly miss him. Clay's pride and joy was his plum purple 1970 Plymouth Cuda. He leaves behind a passion for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, cars, sports, a love for animals, and a kind heart that will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and his spirit will continue to guide them through the rest of their days.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Perry; one son, Clay A. Perry; one step-son, Frank Haislip; three brothers, Carlton Perry, Kenneth Perry (Rhonda), and Jimmy Perry (Gina). Clay is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
